The Uninvited Guest!

I was sitting alone in my small apartment, reading a book when I heard a knock at the door. It was an unusual time for anyone to visit, so I was hesitant to open it. But the knocking continued, getting louder and more insistent. So, I finally got up and opened the door.


There was no one there. I peered into the darkness, but I couldn't see anyone. I thought it might be a prank, but the fear was still there. I closed the door and went back to my book, trying to ignore what had just happened.


But then I heard footsteps. They were soft and muffled, but I could hear them clearly. I got up and walked towards the door, hoping to catch whoever was playing this prank. But as I opened the door, the fear hit me like a wave. There was no one there again, but this time, something felt different.


The air in my apartment had turned cold, and I could see my breath as I exhaled. It was as if someone had brought a piece of the winter night inside. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up, and I could feel eyes watching me from the darkness.


I walked back inside, trying to convince myself that it was just my imagination. But the footsteps continued, and I could hear whispers now. I couldn't make out what they were saying, but they were getting louder.


Suddenly, the whispers turned into a scream. It was a blood-curdling scream that pierced through the silence. I froze in terror, unable to move or even breathe.


And then, just as suddenly as it had started, everything went quiet. The footsteps stopped, and the cold air dissipated. I was left alone, trembling with fear and wondering what had just happened.


I later found out that the apartment complex was built on an old burial ground. It was said that the spirits of the dead still roamed the area, looking for a way to communicate with the living. And that night, one of them had chosen me as its unwilling host.


I moved out of that apartment soon after, never wanting to encounter that uninvited guest again.
