The Scary Naagin!
I was visiting my cousin in a remote village in the Indian countryside. I was fascinated by the local stories of supernatural creatures that roamed the area, especially the tales of naagins, or serpent women.
One night, my cousin and I were sitting around a bonfire with a few locals, listening to their stories. Suddenly, we heard a strange hissing sound coming from the bushes. The locals immediately fell silent and looked at each other in fear.
One of the older men spoke up. "It's the naagin. She's come to take revenge on us for what we did to her."
The rest of the group nodded in agreement, clearly terrified. I, on the other hand, didn't believe in such superstitious tales. That was until I saw a figure slithering towards us from the bushes. It was a woman, but her body was covered in scales, and she had a long tail instead of legs.
I couldn't believe what I was seeing, but before I could react, the naagin spoke in a voice that sent shivers down my spine. "You humans think you can do whatever you want to the land and its creatures. You cut down our forests, pollute our rivers, and destroy our homes. Now, it's time for you to pay."
With that, she lunged towards the group, her sharp fangs gleaming in the firelight. The locals ran in all directions, screaming in terror. I was frozen in fear, unable to move.
Just when I thought it was the end, I heard a voice calling out to the naagin in a language I didn't understand. It was an old woman, dressed in white, with a kind face. "Stop, child. You don't have to hurt them. They didn't know any better."
The naagin hesitated for a moment, then nodded and slithered away into the night. The old woman turned to me and said, "You were lucky, child. The naagin spared you this time. But remember, we must always respect the land and its creatures, or they will come back to haunt us."
From that day on, I always remembered the lesson the naagin taught me. And every time I hear a hissing sound in the night, I remember the fear I felt that night and shudder at the thought of what could have happened.
